We have just been informed that tonight's Clane Community Council SGM has been cancelled by Clane Community Council.
We will instead use the opportunity to hold an information evening in the main hall at Clane GAA at 8pm to allow club members and members of the Clane community at large to attend and learn more about the matter. Please note there will be no Zoom meeting taking place.
==================
Dear members,
You may be aware that Clane GAA are working with Clane United AFC, Clane Rugby and members of the community of Clane on securing a house to be raffled by the clubs to aid fundraising activities. This particular communication relates to a judicial review taken by Clane Community Council (CCC) against the building of 91 houses near Brooklands on the Celbridge Road.
As a collective the clubs requested that Clane Community Council withdraw their Judical Review on the basis that planning permission was awarded for this development by Kildare County Council as part of the Local Area Plan.
Following the objection, planning was also granted by an Bord Pleanela. To date Clane Community Council are holding firm on their position and have refused to terminate the Judical Review process!
We feel that this opportunity is too good for the club to miss given that net funds generated by such a raffle could exceed €1m, benefiting current members and generations of Clane residents to come.
For Clane GAA these funds will see us provide much needed amenities including
1. Completion of our current development inc. a fully lit community walkway
2. Upgrade existing floodlights & install a new floodlit 4G Astroturf Pitch
3. Build a new entrance, upgrade road surface and car parking facilities
4. Convert existing entrance to pedestrian only, facilitating safer access to primary schools
5. Relocate Sports Wall
6. Enhanced Recycling facilities
7. Upgrade the Main Stand
A special general meeting of the Clane Community Council has been called for next Monday, March 14th at 8pm to discuss and vote on this very issue.
We are urging you to register on zoom and attend this meeting in support of the club or attend in the main hall at Clane GAA where the meeting will be broadcast live.
