Earlier this week we welcomed the Minister for Sport, Jack Chambers TD, his party colleague and local Fianna Fáil TD James Lawless as well as local Fine Gael TD Bernard Durkan to our club.
Club Officers inc. Vice-Chairperson Anthony O'Dea, Secretary Briege Little and PRO James Henry brought them on a tour of our club development and highlighted the strong community ties we have to the local schools, our Healthy Club activities with Get Clane Fit and the Clane GAA Healthy Club program as well as the volunteering work we did as a club during the Covid pandemic.
We also discussed our transition to a One Club model where Clane GAA, LGFA and Camogie work together as one with equal status and representation on our club executive. We highlighted the fact that LGFA and Camogie are the fastest growing sections of our club with the highest growth in young female members.
We talked the Minister through the plans for the next stage of the development which includes a Community Walkway around the perimeter of the top pitches along with floodlighting and car parking facilities to ensure safety and convenience for members of our community looking to use the facilities.
The Minister and his colleagues were extremely impressed with our development plans and progress to date, he and his colleagues were particularly interested in the work we have done with the One club model and our community initiatives.
