Congratulations to our Senior Hurling team and management on a super win last evening in the Haven Hire Senior Hurling Championship against Leixlip.

Our young team bounced back from a disappointing 6 point loss to Confey in the 1st Round and had to cope with the loss of their County Goalkeeper Mark Doyle early in the match. They rolled the sleeves up and responded in great style. Fortunately we had another County star in Paddy McKenna to go between the sticks and in a crucial period right before HT with the match finely balanced Paddy made a superb save. The defence threw themselves in front of the follow up and eventually cleared the ball up field. The forwards then bagged 2 quick fire goals in 1st half added time by Colm O'Sullivan and Bernard Deay to add to a superb opener from Sam Hilyer in the 2nd minute.

Clane led by 3-04 to 0-9 at the break.

With the breeze at their backs and Eoin & Phils words ringing in their ears they drove on in the 2nd half with the young duo of Cian Shanahan and Aidan Mooney impressing at centre back and midfield respectively. Eimhin Gillman & Sean Christiansen played a lot of good ball into the forwards who kept the score board ticking over. It was an all round huge effort across the team, panel and management and just rewards for their hard work and preparation all season. They dominated the 2nd half to finish 3-13 to 0-12 winners. The team now face Naas in their 3rd round match.

A word of thanks to Cappagh GAA who hosted the match at their fantastic new facilities.
