Our Minor Hurlers will compete in the Future Ticketing Minor Hurling League Division 1 final this Sunday against Naas in Manguard Hawkfield with throw-in set for 2pm.
They have had a tremendous campaign to date which started with a good win against Celbridge before holding off a late onslaught by St. Cocas (Kilcock/Cappagh) to make it 2 wins from 2. They then faced Naas on our new pitch under lights and in a pulsating match they lost out by a single pointed free from 80 yards out deep into injury time. Their final match was against Maynooth knowing a win would guarantee a final spot and another crack against Naas. The team put in superb performance on the night with great defending and some fine scores from all areas of the pitch to claim the win.
This is a fantastic achievement to reach the Division 1 league final on our first year back as a standalone club at the Minor grade in 9 years and a testament to the work being done by the juvenile coaching group. The squad includes 6 of our U16s who have performed superbly well along with our U17s and U18s. Congrats to the team and management and we wish you all the best on Sunday.
Let's get a big Clane support across to Hawkfield this Sunday to support the lads. Tickets are available here at https://kildaregaa.ie/tickets/ and U16s have free entry. All 3 Minor Hurling finals inc. the Div 2 and Div 3 finals take place on Sunday so it promises to be a great days hurling. Ticket is valid for entry to all matches.
